Sing!

This is a poem I wrote a while ago, but I read it today and liked it so its up again! Here goes:

The sounds of her song feel rough to touch

She smiles affectionately, warming the soul-

Yet her song chills the bones,

Like winter air.

You should hear her sing! Pleasantly discordant

Beautiful to the ear,

Bitter to stomach!

The words of her song hang in the air,

Defying the uncaring wind,

“lest they blow to unlistening ears” she terms it.

Hers is a song of love, she says

But why so much hatred?
